All foreign language teachers want their students to be interested in the language they teach and actively engaged in class. For these common goals, teachers constantly look for a right way to approach to their classrooms. I am one of them, and I am trying to figure out which approach or method works for a certain occasion or purpose.
There are tons of articles, books, websites, and all kinds of media about language teaching approaches and methods. When one reads them, sees them, or listens to them, these approaches and methods make sense and seem effective. But my questions is… How exactly are they implemented to real class setting? Are they really effective? In what kind of classroom situation were they applied? The best way to answer these questions is to try them myself.
In this blog, I try different approaches and methods in my language classes, and share my experiences and reflections. Other teachers are encouraged to contribute their opinions. I also would like to have students join and share their feedback to see what they think about the approaches/methods, especially if these approaches/methods help them understand the language and use in real life.
I hope this blog will become the database of language teaching approaches and methods, where any teachers can stop by and find something that they can use in their classes. Also, through the feedbacks from other teachers and students, I hope this blog will answer some questions and doubts in language teaching approaches or methods that some teachers might have, and help them improve their classroom activities. Then, eventually, this blog will help students achieve their learning outcomes.
